Forest Edge Cabin
2023
Overview
Lauren and Ethan Brooks wanted a compact retreat at the edge of the forest near Jackson Hole that would feel warm and sheltered through every season.
Client
Lauren & Ethan Brooks
Type
Residential / Mountain Retreat
Duration
12 months

The Challenge
Heavy snow loads, a short building season, and a small footprint meant every square foot and every decision had to earn its place.
Mountain weather and remote site access shaped the schedule and the structure from the start. We needed a simple, durable building that could be assembled quickly and stay comfortable through long winters.

The solution
We designed a compact, well-insulated cabin with a steep roof, a sheltered entry, and a single living space that faces the trees.
Local timber, a deep stone hearth, and a few carefully placed windows keep the interior warm and quiet. The cabin now works as a year-round retreat that feels settled into its site.
